L'Ecole Nouvelle Royal Caribbean is a new school that was built in Haiti by the Cruse line Royal Caribbean in an effort to help the children of the region to receive a better education. The school which is located on the land Royal Caribbean leased from the Haitian government for its Labadee Resort, was built in four weeks time, using 50 Haitian workers.
The school will be a primary school for approximately 230 local children. Royal Caribbean has plan to build more schools in Haiti in the future. It is estimated that Royal Caribbean has contributed so far close to $2.5 million to Haiti following the earthquake. The company has also created jobs to over 500 Haitians in its Labadee operation
Should the Haitian people be thankful to Royal Caribbean for this great service to our community?
Is Royal Caribbean a caring Corporation that is interested in the well been of the Haitian population?
Do they deserve a trophy for building a new school in Labadee?
According to information received by the Judaist, Royal Caribbean has a net worth of over $15,000,000,000.00. Royal Caribbean leased the Labadee location from the Haitian government at a bargain price. Royal Caribbean pays less than $30,000 a week to the Haitian Government for exclusive use of Labadee location which is considered to be one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. For the announcement from Royal Caribbean the construction of a primary school in Haiti to receive this level of publicity, it is pitiful. I know many individuals and companies who earn a lot less than Royal Caribbean, but are engaging in making quite a difference in the lives of the poor, the sick and the less privileged people in Haiti.
This deal did not bring any additional investment to Haiti. Instead, Royal Caribbean promoted Labadee as an island and not as part of Haiti. Labadee is restricted to Haitian population in such a way that it is constantly guarded by armed security guards to keep the locals away from the Cruse Line Passengers.
I think that instead of accepting for foreign corporations such as Royal Caribbean to build school for the Haitian people, the Haitian government needs to tax them properly and use the money to develop a more comprehensive plan of education that could benefit the entire country.
The Royal Caribbean cruse Line has been taking advantage of the people of Haiti for a long time. We have a beautiful resort but do not know how to take advantage of it. As a resullt, foreign companies like Royal Caribbean has been able to take advantage of it
All we need is to organize the country, allow for more tourism and we will be able in a better position to negotiate for a better deal with Royal Caribbean or nay other Corporation wanting to use this beautiful location called Labadee
As a gift to the Haitians living near Labadee area, Royal Caribbean built the new school called Ecole Novelle Royal Caribbean. Many people however think that Royal Caribbean could have done a lot more to help the local in Haiti since they have been able to maake lots of money from the Labadee resort for its cruse line
Is there something to this? after the rejection of the second Prime Minister nominated by president Michel Martelly, many members of the Haitian parliament are coming out, bringing both the Race and the Class issue in Haitian society.
