The recommendation of the Haitian Joudalist for President
The 2010 Haitian Presidential election will be one of the most significant events in the history of Haiti. This election will elect the Haitian leader responsible for three important things:
1) The new Haitian leader will help finalize the plan for the New Haiti.
2) The new Haitian leader will be responsible to build the foundation of this New Haiti.
3) The new Haitian leader will be responsible set the New Haiti on a road with ramification for generations upon generations to come.
If this is done the right way, just in a few years we will come out strong, independent, self-sufficient and proud as a people. If we do not do it right, it will not be business as usual where everyone comes to identify us with the following labels: the poorest country in this region, the boat people, The People who brought AID to America, The Country that is cure by God, the country with a 20% rate of literacy, just to name a few . This time, the international community will be fed up with us and most likely an alternative will be implemented where we can forget about self governance.
As all Haitians should, I need to participate in this election because it is a matter of life and death. Unfortunately, I became an American citizen years ago and the previous Haitian governments did not think it was important for Haitians living outside of the country to be part of the process, although they welcome our financial contributions. If you are in a similar situation you can still influence the 2010 Haiti Presidential election in a meaningful way. Here is what I am proposing, we need to influence the people we are financially supporting in Haiti by telling them who we are supporting and for what reasons. then, we need to encourage them to vote for that candidate. The list of people we can influence in Haiti to vote in the 2010 Presidential election is almost unlimited and includes children, mothers, fathers, grand-parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, ants, friends, people being positively affected by our projects in Haiti, people who call us once in a while to tell us someone is sick and to help them, those who want us to sent a pair of snickers for them, people who ask us to help pay for their children to go to school, those beautiful Haitian women who show us a good time during our stay in Haiti. This is the time to do all that.
This is my selection so far and it is subject to change:
As an entrepreneur and a businessman, I think more than anything we need jobs. I believe we do not need fish to feed our family, but rather someone to show us how to caught our own fish. With Job creation we will find work & provide better for our family. We will be able to educate ourselves to become better entrepreneurs, investors, and ultimately better citizens.
So far, the person most qualifies to do that in Haiti is Charles Henri Baker AKA "Charlito". Charles Henri Baker was born in Haiti. He is a Haitian farmer and grew sugarcane, banana and tabaco. He has created jobs for many Haitians in the past. My support for Mr. Charles Henri Baker so far has to do with the fact that he chose to start his campaign for the 2010 Haiti Presidential Election in Florida. More than 2 millions Haitians are living in the United States. These Haitians have American born children that are currently estimated around4 millions. Therefore, if the Haitians who are here in the US can unite their forces, they can influence landscape of Haiti as well as the US. For Charlito Baker to publicly acknowledge that shows intelligence on his part and a willingness to work with with us if elected president of Haiti.
So far this has been my selection. I will continue to closely monitor Haiti presidential election. The Haitian Joudalist is not perfect. Should I change my opinion on this ranking, you will be the first to know.
Please comment:
Do you agree with my selection?
If you do why?
If you don't, why not?
What are the qualifications you are looking for in your candidate?
Would you rather select a candidate because of his/her ability to speak French?
Is it more important for you to vote for someone who has your skin color than the ability to do a good job?
Do you think a woman should not be president?
