Ti Jean Petro can be related or identified as a spirit who wonders through the forests and a thorough bush cover. He has always been depicted or personified as a character having only one single leg. He is the protector of black magicians and he is believed to give them his useful tips and suggestions regarding their art of black magic and mumbo jumbo.
He is passionate at whatever he does and he is a bit violent. During the performing of the ceremony he is believed to violently put forward the mounted individual during the time when the ceremony takes place.

Ti Jean Petro is widely worshipped by mainly the people of the Creole community in Haiti. Pigs are sacrificed for the worshipping ritual of the Ti Jean Petro. The violent character of the Ti Jean Petro is symbolized by elements such as gunpowder.
