Agwe, the spirit of the water

Agwe is the spirit of water in simple word. Agwe draws the interest of the people who particularly have a routine habit of going to seas for their day to day work such as the fishermen. The symbol actually represents or resembles to that of a boat. Agwe is primarily significant for countries that lie in close proximity of the islands. Due to this reason, Haiti is one of the nations whose residents depend upon and worship the Agwe since many years.

On arrival with a performer, Agwe is provided with wet sponge and towels that help him maintain his cool and cozy when he steps over the land during the ceremony. A significant amount of attention needs to be taken for the performer as he has the tendency to take a dive into the water where Agwe actually stays.

The ceremonies in honor of Agwe are performed in close proximity to the water. The substances that are put forth as homage is usually float on water, the residence of the Agwe. There is a belief that the case where the offerings that return back to the surface of the water have been actually turned down by Agwe, as he is the spirit of the waters.

Agwe is considered to done the uniform of the navy. The point of time when the Agwe takes control or possession of another individual it is considered that Agwe gives orders to control the movements of the individual under his control. Agwe’s female companion is known by the name of La Sirene, which acts as the siren of the waters.
