New Report - Haitian government overestimated Earthquake death toll

A report obtained by the "Haitian Joudalist" about the number of victims who perished in the 2010 Haiti earthquake suggested that the Haitian government exaggerated its estimate.
According to the Associated Press, a US commissioned report projected that the number of death is between 46,000 and 85,000, an estimate far lower than the 316,000 government estimate. This report has not yet been made public.
I have one question: How did they come up with this figure?
How did they manage to count the number of people still buried under the rubbles in Port-au-Prince?
What is behind the this?
Don't take me wrong. As a Haitian, I know very well our capacity to embellish things and make them look bigger than they actually are. However this new figure between between 46,000 and 85,000 people is hard to believe.
So far, the Haitian authorities remain convinced that their reported estimate of 316,000 is right.
If the Haitian government should be accused for overestimating the number of dead, the US-Commission should be accused as well. They need to be charged for grossly underestimating the number of dead.
Until this new US-Commission can show me more evidence for their number, I will go with the estimate of the Haitian government
Ok, even in big country like the US estimation can never be accurate. The question is why anyone would think it is important to study the death toll after the earthquake? Are they triying to cover some responsibility? Why is it matter how many thousand died? We only need to know why were the american soldiers in Haiti the night before the earthquake? Why did it takes 24 hours for CNN to get in Haiti which is 2h away from florida? Why there wasn't no tsunami after an 7.2 earthquake near the coast? Again, who has any reason to minimise the impact of the earthquake in Haiti? And why
