It was reported that 45 Haitian Houngans have been killed since the cholera outbreak in Haiti. In some regions of Haiti, these voodoo priests have been accused for spreading the cholera virus through magic means. It was reported by CNN that Haitian gangs, armed with machetes have massacred 45of these Haitian houngans.
 
Since the cholera outbreak, close to 3000 people have died. Lack of education, combined with fear of the disease have resulted in these cases of violence. These people believe that these Houngan have been spreading the cholera disease through their magic power.

Cholera is not caused by magic powder, but rather by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. The cholera bacteria lives naturally in water. It is transmitted primarily by fecal contamination of food and water due to lack of sanitation.
