Emmanuel Sanon alias “Ti Manno” was born in Port-au-Prince in June 1951. He was a member of the 1974 Haitian National Team and participated in the World Cup in Germany where he surprised and shocked the whole world with his opening goal against Italy. He became a legend, a star, and a famous soccer player in Haiti’s history.
During his career as a professional soccer player, it was reported that “ Emmanuel Sanon scored 47 of the 106 goals scored by the team” (Haitian National Team). Emmanuel Sanon also played for various soccer clubs in the Haitian capital.
Emmanuel Sanon founded a non profit and charitable organization for the youths in the Caribbean, North America, and Europe. His career ended in 1983 due to a knee injury.
On February 21, 2008 Ti Manno died in his sleep of pancreatic cancer. He was 56 years old.
