Haiti is located between two plates past one another and the fault is called Enriquillo Plantain Garden fault. It is estimated by scientists that the fault accumulates on average about 7mm a year. Haiti will always be in danger of major earthquake like the 1751 quake because the fault gradually accumulating stress until it's time to release it all at once in a earthquake.
The 1751 Port-au-Prince Earthquake was one of the many earthquakes that Haiti has to deal with. Every time these quakes hit, they usually leave massive destruction and losses in human lives.
