President Martelly visiting Pilate, Port-Margot and Borgne

‘Pilate’ is a municipality located in the Plaisance Arrondissement, in the Nord Department of Haiti with 40,445 inhabitants. Similarly, ‘Port-Margot’ is a municipality in the Borgne Arrondissement, in the Nord Department of Haiti with 36,937 inhabitants. Borgne is a town on the north coast of Haiti which is in the west of Cap-Haïtien and northwest of Limbé, in Nord Department. The economy of Borgne is agriculture and fishery based. The city is presently at the initial stage of development as a "sister cities" relationship with Honeoye Falls, New York, United States.
The Head of the State expressed his deep concern over the present condition of the people living in these areas and the state’s commitment to serve them. He reminded them what massive load work generally remains involved in a process of development and conveyed the awareness of the administration of what is done and undone. He had talked about many relevant issues, like, how the knowledge and awareness are essential under any community development program, or, how education is important in job creation and eradication of poverty, the importance and ways for social inclusion, how road infrastructure is necessary for community development, etc.
The President pledged his full support and commitment to serve every essential like water, roads and other important infrastructures and fight against environmental degradation. He asked the participants from Port-Margot to create an investment favorable climate. The municipal authorities attending the occasion had expressed their gratitude for the esteemed presence of the Head of the State and requested for creating necessary roads and school infrastructure.
The President had awarded several scholarships to undergraduates during the occasion.
