Cap Haitien, or as it is named in English Cap-Haitian), previously named “Cap Francais” is the second city located in the northern part of Haiti. It was an important city during the colonial period due to its geographic position.

Cap Haitien is mountainous which reduces and protects the city during cyclones, earthquake, and horrible mother nature weather. Its beaches and tourism, its colonial buildings with balconies make it unique and beautify the city in style and architecture. Its narrow streets enhance its French appearance.

Many historic monuments lay in Cap Haitien and surroundings for example the Heroes of Vertieres, Palais Sans Souci, Citadelle Laferriere (one of World Wonders), etc…

Cap Haitien has a fluctuating population due to migration from Gonaives, Port-de Paix, and Port-au-Prince for many reasons.
