Hospital Justinien is located in Cap-Haitien, Haiti's second largest city. This public regional health center is the main health facility for Nord, Nord-Est and Plateau Central.

Hospital Justinien provides four basic services to the population: Maternity and child delivery, Intern medicine, pediatric care, and Urology.  In addition, the hospital is responsible for infection control of the population as well as teaching the population about prevention.

As a teaching hospital, Hospital Justinien makes use of the Haitian doctor residents to conduct many of the tasks that would have been done by the regular physicians. Because the doctors responsible to handle the patients are not always on duty. Many of them are obligated to run several private clinics just to survive.

With this huge task of serving the population of Nord, Nord-Est and Plateau central, Hospital Justinien is faced with an impossible mission. It is poorly equipped and not adequately staff. The basic supplies are not available at the hospital. In some instances, there is no running water or electricity to perform surgeries. The patients are obligated to bring their own supplies such as gloves and dressing for a surgery.

Unfortunately, with all these problems faced by Hospital Justinien in Cap-Haitian, The population in the region comes to accept it as normal.

Is anyone really asking questions to the government?

Is it OK for the population not to have access to even the basic healthcare in Cap-Haitian?

Those few who are more affluent can travel to Port-au-prince of a foreign country to get proper care for their family or themselves, is the current situation fine with them?
