Investors from Florida will be wooed into Haiti, with the Caribbean country being painted as a potential investment ground, especially in the agriculture, tourism, textile and construction sectors. The event has been dubbed ‘Caravan of Investment.’ It is expected to be huge, and will without a doubt showcase the investment opportunities that are yet to be exploited in the Hispaniola country.
The event is one in a series of many which are meant to market Haiti. A Similar meeting was held in Miami last week, and another investment forum will take place this week in Atlanta. Other measures are also being taken to make Haiti lucrative to investors. For example, the constitution has been amended to allow Haitian citizens living abroad to own land and to run for some low level offices. The Caravan of Investment and all these are indeed good moves that will drive Haiti of donor dependence.
