The Environment at school is exceptional. Students are excited to receive Valentine's Day gifts. Most girls are looking forward to see if they have a secret admirer , or what they will be receiving from their boyfriend. It is very difficult for us to  even be able to concentrate, because our minds were on what the boys would get us for Valentine.  Most schools in Haiti are  either a all  boy or a all girl school, so we had to wait at the end of day or if you are old enough you  just have to be patient until noon. That's when we receive our one hour lunch break.

On  Valentine's Day in Haiti, if we  attend a private  school we would  have a pink ribbon attached to our uniform. The other kids just wear a pink shirt or blouse to school. Young little girls have pink socks, ribbons and barrettes on. The theme color is pink as oppose to red in America.

Young boys will bring a box of chocolate with a nice written love poem and flower on Valentine's Day. If they are a secret admirer they will have a friend drop it off. The girls will usually receive the gift during lunch or after school when they are walking together which is very romantic. The boys can get very creative around Valentine's Day. They will write an acrostic using the girl's first name or the word "love". Young girls feel very special Valentine's Day in Haiti.

After school in Haiti, the kids in upper class might put on a Romeo and Juliet play on the February 14. Romeo is usually a handsome well-known young man. Juliet will be a beautiful well-known young lady. Parents, teachers, students, and member will come together to see  the play. This is usually done every year on Valentine's Day in Haiti but it never seems to get old. 

In Haiti, Valentine's Day at school is very hectic. We have the following issues to deal with:

1) We are hyper from all the chocolates we eat
2) We are to emotional emotional on the gifts we receive
3) We are emotional because this is the time when young Haitian boys show off their romantic side. True love is shown and created.
