Venezuela Submarine fiber optic Cable to be connected to Haiti in second phase

The submarine cable project that will eventually link the Caribbean community with the rest of the world is moving according to schedule.
The submarine fiber optic cable known as ALBA-1 has for objective to link Venezuela, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti and Dominican Republic, providing faster and more reliable communication to these countries.
The project which involves running thousands of kilometers of fiber optic cable under the sea, with a capacity to transmit 640 gigabytes of information.
The first phase of the project which was to connect Venezuela, Cuba and Jamaica is now at its completion. The second phase of the project will begin immediately, connecting Jamaica to Haiti, then to the Dominican republic.
