Mgr. Chibly Langlois new bishop of the Diocese of Les Cayes

A new bishop of the Diocese of Les Cayes has been named. Pope Benedict XVI selected Mgr. Chibly Langlois, the current Bishop of Fort-Liberté to take over the position in the City of Les Cayes. This position was vacated in the Diocese of Les Cayes, after Mgr Guire Poulard, was nominated as the new archbishop of Port-au-Prince recently.
Nominated Bishop of Fort-Liberté by Pope John Paul II, on April 8, 2004, Mgr Chibly Langlois developed a reputation for his moral values, caring ability and wisdom. He will bring to the new position his prudence and Zeal.
Born on November 29, 1958 in Jacmel, Mgr. Chibly Langlois Studied theology and philosophy at Grand Séminaire Notre-Dame of Port-au-Prince in 1985.
He became vicar of the Cathedral of Jacmel and Director of the service diocesan pastoral of catechesis. Mgr. Chibly Langlois later studied and obtained a degree in pastoral theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. By 1996, he became administrator of the diocesan catechetical and pastoral formation. In 1999, Mgr. Chibly Langlois was professor of pastoral theology at the Grand Séminaire Notre-Dame to Turgeau.
