A visit to the Citadelle Laferriere of Henri Christophe

Have you ever been to the Citadelle? If no, you are missing the essence of the Haitian experience.

There are many great sites in haiti to visit, but being at the Citadelle Laferriere is an experience you will never forget.

The Citadelle of Henri Christophe is a large forteress located on top of the highest mountain in the northern of Haiti, some 17 miles south of Cap-Haitian. It was built by General Henri Christophe, one of the leaders in the Haitian revolution that eventually led to the independence of Haiti in 1804.

Citadelle Laferriere was built on top 3,000 feet high, on top of Bonnet a L’Eveque mountain, to guard against a possible attack from France

The largest of its kind in the Americas, Citadelle Laferriere was designated by United nations (UNESCO) as a world Heritage site.

To Me, The Citadelle Laferriere of the Late King Henri Christophe should be one of the MOST WONDER of the World. But as we all know it, This IMPRESSIVE MONUMENT, being built by a BLACK SLAVE will never make it in that High Level. Never the less, this is an IMPACTING LIVING PROOF that Black Man, sorry I mean "BLACK SLAVE" can outsmart white man, far behind their own understanding, as far back as in the 17th Century. If anyone does not agree with me, Black or White and specially the Black one, all they have to do is to take a GOOOOOD LOOK back at the Citadelle Laferriere then, RECONSIDER. Thank You Roland for This Great Opportunity. I was born in the City of The King, My King Henry Christophe, in the City of "Milot" where the "Fabulous Sans Souci Palace" Another CHEF-D'OEUVRE erected by Our Great King Henry Christophe. Will anyone said that He Was A Genious. Thank You Kindly.
