The Jamaican Government just announced new guidelines to prevent the cholera outbreak in Haiti from reaching people in Jamaica. The Director of Emergency Disaster Management and Special Services in the Health Ministry said that any anyone arriving to the country from Haiti, will be screened for cholera.
Based on an initial interview with each person arriving from Haiti, the newly created quarantine team will determine whether or not the person was exposed to cholera.
All hospitals in Jamaica have been trained to be on the lookout for cholera symptoms and to notify the Health Ministry if anyone is susceptible of cholera infection.
Will we get any break?
Haiti has developed a reputation for political turmoil, flood, insecurity, earthquake and hurricane, just to name a few.
Do you think the Government in Jamaica is right to screen all individuals arriving from Haiti for cholera?
Do you think other countries like the U.S, Canada, France, and others are going to implement similar policies fir passengers arriving from Haiti?
