The "Haitian Joudalist" leaned that the Haitian National Police recently destroyed over 200 tents in the region of Delmas 3. According to the report, these tents were built as temporary shelters for the victims of the 2010 earthquake.

There are two sides to each story.

The mayor of Delmas, Wilson Jeudy, in an interview with the press stated that the action of the Haitian National Police did not target the earthquake victims. According to mayor Wilson Jeudy, the objective of the Haitian National Police in destroying these tents was to deal with criminal gang members who have been taking the community in hostage.


It is estimated that about 166,000 people are currently living in the area targeted for forced eviction by the Haitian National Police.
