The town of Bainet, Haiti

A small coastal town in the republic of Haiti, Bainet lies in the Haitian department of Sud Est in the arrondissement of Bainet. It is situated at the coordinates 18°11'0?North of the equator and 72°45'0? west of the Greenwich meridian.  Bainet has an estimated population of about 79 000 people.

The town is subdivided into the following community sections: Brésilienne, Trou Mahot, La Vallée de Bainet, Haut Grandou, Bas de Grandou, Bas de Lacroix, Bras Gauche, Oranger and Bas des Gris Gris.

The inhabitants of this town are peasant farmers. They grow coffee, citrus fruits and sisal.

Bainet is described by most of those who have visited it as one of Haiti’s loveliest places. There are multiple beautiful rivers, excellent camping places and a lot of activities such as hiking.

The beach around Bainet is exquisite and beautiful. What makes most tourists prefer it is that it is relatively cheap as compared to most beaches along the carribean.

There are two close airports to the town of Bainet. The Jacmel Airport is approximately 25kilometers away while the Barbers Point Airport is about 48 kilometers away from the town of Bainet. The international airport in the capital, Port au Prince is about 60 kilometers away.
