Margaret Solon, Haitian Artist

She is the fifth of nine children of two artistically gifted parents. She is married and lives with her family in Long Island, New York. Margaret Solon has two adults kids, Gregg and Morgan.
She was influenced by two people. Margaret saw her brother Guy Solon painting while growing up. She also saw her father retouching his photographic works in his photo studio, and in his office as the photographer for the Haitian government.
In 1996 Margaret Solon painted Out of Luck with acrylic, which she had constantly used. The piece represents a dream like state for a young woman who is otherwise surrounded by untold trials and tribulations. This piece featured in the 1999 Booz/Gardere Gallery exhibition. The aim of this show was to widen the scope of Haitian art.
Her work was on display in the Sumei Multidisciplinary Art Centre from October to December 2004. Her work was exhibited alongside that of other 13 artists in celebration of Haitian art and culture. The exhibition was meant to market the work of Haitians beyond the borders of the Hispaniola Island so as to promote the art industry.
Margaret Solon loves painting with her whole heart. Even today, she still continues to enjoy that skill. According to her lovely daughter, Morgan Mazile back in July, 2012: "My mother is still painting, and will forever be painting"
