The majority of Haiti presidential candidates denounced the 2010 Haiti presidential election for massive fraud. Charles Henri Baker, Jacques-Edouard Alexis, Wilson Jeudi, Mirlande Manigat, Michel Martelly, Yvon Nepturne, Leslie Voltaire and Jean Henry Ceant, all called for an annulment of the 2010 Haiti election due to substantial number of fraud.
On the day of the election, tension began building even before the Haitian polling stations were officially opened. Most polling places did not open at 6:00am as scheduled. Some opened on November 28 at 7, 8 and even 9 o'clock in the morning on election day. Eager voters stepped over earthquake rubble to search for their names in the government list.
People witnessed numerous occasions of electoral fraud, including ballot stuffing, voter intimidation and gangs entering polling stations and stuffing ballot boxes with candidates of their choice. There were also many incidents where voters showed in the polling places and not being able to vote. Considering that people are not allowed to drive on election day in Haiti, It was reported that some voters had to go to four or five different voting stations before they could cast their ballot.
It was reported in Dondon in the North of the country, ballot boxes were pre-filled with bulletin of the UNITE candidate Jude Celestin. At the polling place located at Lycee Calisterne Fouchard at Carrefour Feuille, it was alleged that only representatives of UNITE platform were allowed to monitor the votes while representatives for the other candidates were being kept out. Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive confirmed on the day of the election that there were many irregularities in the election.
Many potential voters were unable to participate in the 2010 election because they did not acquire their National Identification cards, many of which were buried under the debris of the earthquake. There were also allegation of deceased voters being listed to vote on the 2010 Haiti election; in the meantime, able bodies being refused voting rights.
The people protesting the 2010 Haiti election believe that all these issues were part of an organized plan. They accused the current political party for using these tactics to still the election from the Haitian voters.
