Rice and mashroom or Riz et Djon-Djon as it is called by Haitian is a menu very popular in the Haitian cuisine. Different part of the country uses special touches to make their Riz et djondjon recipe addapt to their local tasts. However, this recipe has certains elements that you will find anywhere a haitian woman is making Duris et Djon-Djon.
Common ingredients for Riz and Djon-Djon:
Two cups of rice. Use long long Grain for better result
One cup of Black Mashroom (Haitian Djon-Djon)
Three garlics
Clovers, Thyme, and some green stuff, Lima beans,
Four Teaspoon of cooking oil or butter
Add salt, based on your intake level and doctor recommendation
How it is cooked:
Soak the Haitian black mashroom in hot waterfor about 30 minutes.
Wash your rice in water.
Saute the rice and garlic in the warm cooking oil.
Add the water used to soak the black mashroomall
Add all other ingredients
Cook for 15 minutes in medium heat.
Once the riz soaks the water, reduce the heat and cook for ten minutes.
Serve
