The New York Post is raising new issues in regard to Wyclef Jean and his Yele Haiti Foundation. According to the newspaper, Yele Haiti collected $16 million in 2010, following the Haiti earthquake. Less that two third of the amount collected went to pay overhead. According to The New York Post: " less than a third of that went to emergency efforts".

The Post also reported that Yele Haiti also paid $1 million of that amount to "a Florida company that doesn’t appear to exist". The newspaper does not allege any dishonest embezzlement of funds from Wyclef. There is assumption of gross mismanagement and negligence with regards to the distribution of the funds the charity raised.

After the earthquake on January 12, 2010 in Haiti, Wyclef Jean was very active and established a calling system to raise money through his foundation's Yéle Haiti Earthquake Fund.

The Haitian hip hop star Wyclef Jean, in a reply to the article released by The New York Post, stated that he is proud of the way his charity responded after the earthquake almost two years ago.
