On January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit by one of the worst disaster in its history. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the island around the city of Leogane located about 10 miles south of Port-au-Prince. The January 12 earthquake was the most powerful earthquake that hit Haiti for over 200 years. As a result of the earthquake, close to 300,000 people died, over 250,000 residential and 30,000 commercial buildings were destroyed. As the organizer of the Fashion for Relief Haiti event, Naomi Campbell is a British model who was born on May 22, 1970. She has appeared regularly on over 500 covers of magazines such as Vogue Italia, Japanese Vogue, Elle, i-D, Glamour, and others.
