A well deserved recognition. Haitian president Rene Preval has awarded Haiti most prestigious award to the Cuban Medical Brigade. The award was granted to the Cuban Medical Brigade in recognition for their services to the Haitian population.

A true friend of Haiti

There is a Haitian proverb that states: "Lè w’ap neye, ou kenbe branch ou jwenn." When you are drowning, you hang to the branch you reach.

The Cuban people has been there for us on so many occasions.

Cubans have been making a major difference in Haiti since 1998, since the government of Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The 2010 Haiti earthquake has made their presence even more important in Haiti.

Making an exception for Haiti, Cuba agreed to allow American planes to fly medical evacuation missions from Haiti to travel through Cuban air space after the 2010 earthquake

Since the Cholera outbreak in Haiti, Cuban doctors have treated over 40% of all patients suffering with the disease. The Cuban Medical Brigade has saved more than 70,800 Haitians.
