The city of Cabaret known as “Duvalier Ville” founded in 1962 by Papa Doc, is a municipality located in Arcahaie. It lies north of Port-Au-Prince along Haiti west coast. It has a population of 3,951 inhabitants. Cabaret is the showcase of the meager accomplishments of the Duvalier’s regime.


Papa Doc, ordered and advertised industries, a water plant, lands and free schooling. That was all empty promises. Unlike, other places in Haiti, peasants in Cabaret show little violence when the Duvalier’s reign ends and they renamed the city once again “Cabaret”.
