U.S. working with American clothing industry to Support Sweatshops in Haiti

The "Haitian Joudalist" has learned that more damaging information are on the way about the U.S. in dealing with Haiti.

Last week, The Nation website published some Wikileaks cables; but soon pulled it out to allow more collaboration with "Haiti liberte".

What was mentioned in the article and you will have an opportunity to read in full this week is how the the American clothing industry along with the Obama administration fought with the Haitian government for raising the minimum wage from $0.24 an hour to $5 per day.

The Wikileaks segment published on "The Nation" give you an idea about how the Obama Administration fought to keep Haitian wages at 31 cents an hour.

This is the opinion of the "Haitian Joudalist:"

At first, this was a shock to me. How could the U.S. support this? This is pure modern slavery, I believe. Also, coming from an Obama government, how could that be?

On the other hand, if you want to look at this objectively, the U.S. might have a point for doing this. First and most of all, the United States has the responsibility to protect the interest of the American people. It might not look fair to us, but the American government was just doing its job.

I hope one day we can have similar leaders who can understand where their position are compared to the rest of the world and consequently develop policies that will benefit their people as well.
