Unlike other ethnic groups in America, not too many Haitian-Americans have occupied key positions in the US Government. Most Haitians-Americans are satisfied to have a career in the medical field. many chose to become Nurses, Nurses Aid, Doctors and so on. However, unless elected you do not find many Haitian-American in high level governmental position. This is true whether it is in the local, state or federal level.
Have you ever asked why it is so hard to get a job as a CIA Agent, working for the State Department overseas, an Immigration Officer, A US Marshall, or working for The Department of Justice or Homeland Security? These jobs do exist and like everyone else, they are in deed within the reach of the typical Haitian-American.
So if that is the case, how do I as an Haitian-America apply and have a career with the federal Government, earn a good income to take care of my family, retired with a good pension, and be happy for the rest of my life?
No one can't guarantee that you will be happy for the rest of your life; however, if you implement these tips, I guarantee you will be able to make a career working for one of these prestigious branches of US Government, and you will in deed retire with financial security.
You need to know that almost all federal agencies have an internship program. These internship programs are your best tool to get at the door of these big agencies. Usually the Federal Government offers internship programs for both High school and College students. Some are even reserved for non-students. When you are enrolled in an internship program, it's like being on a waiting list because the agencies usually look into their internship first when hiring new workers. In order to land on your dream job with the federal government, you need to know the different internship programs that are available and those most suitable for you.
